What really intrigued me about this interview was the amount of different reference sheets which need to be created for so many different characters. Sharon talks about having sheets for different turnarounds of the characters, different mouth charts for animating lip syncing, construction and expression pages and even poses which are unique to each character such as Brian getting run over, and all of this is normally done before storyboarding even begins.
Sharon also talks about how back during when she was learning animation drawing was a very important factor to becoming a good animator and that classes nowadays don't focus as much on drawing techniques. This reminded me of a quote in the Animator's Survival Kit where Richard Williams said something similar about how drawing is so important for animation and that if you struggle drawing then animating will be a lot harder for you, however now that times have changed animation seems to be a subject which is open for anyone to experiment with.
