During my lesson in animation context, what I've learned which I've found to be incredibly useful is to use CRAAP testing on documents and to test how reliable they are to use as a resource for your essay.

CRAAP testing stands for Currency, Relevancy, Authority, Accuracy and Purpose and each letter in the abbreviation is just as important as the other:

To put this way of discovering reliability of documents to use, we decided to look at an example of a document and apply this method to see how well it links with the CRAAP test and to see if it is good enough to be used as a source for your essay.

Document: shorturl.at/xAHRY

Currency: We can't quite tell when this work was published as it is not mentioned anywhere on the document, however I would say the information that is on there is quite useful for learning about the rules of photography.

Relevancy: I don't believe this topic relates to my topic at all hence why I most likely won't use it. Instead, I believe that this is focused on photographers who want to learn how to use the different rules for their shots.

Authority: The author seems like someone who is experienced in his topic and I would personally say he knows what he's talking about. However, I wouldn't believe for this document to be peer reviewed by someone else who is just as experienced in the topic as no other names seem to be credited or mentioned/

Accuracy: The information looks like it comes from the authors experiences, however considering that this area of topic is something I don't know too much about it means I can't see any errors or misinformation the author might have included.

Purpose: Looking through this document it looks like it's written to be more of a promotional document compared to something which might be more educational. The reason to why I say this is because the author used the first person tense quite often and talks about what he did to get his effects instead of saying how you could get these effects. This also means that the document can be quite biased as he shares his own opinions on what he thinks may look good.
