During this lesson we were told to design our own characters keeping in mind the use of shapes from the previous lesson. Here I designed 5 different types of characters completely unique to one another which I'll go through now:

The first character in the top-left is some sort of ballerina bug who's quite timid with herself. I've used mainly round shapes to portray how she isn't quite threatening. I've also given her stick-like arms to show how weak she is as a character.
The second character I drew is some sort of mushroom character who looks to be more the joker type, I can imagine him making 'fun-guy' puns every time he's in the scene. Definitely the character which took me the least amount of time to design but oddly one of the better developed ones too.
The third character is some robot character with a television head. I quite like this concept on characters and I wanted to try and portray it in this concept sheet. I used a lot of square shapes in this piece as I can imagine his movement to be quite robotic and stiff.
The fourth character I was inspired by the Taluses in Breath of the Wild which are these characters made from rocks. I thought the idea was really cool and I could create some really bulky character with this concept. I used squares on his body to show how tanky he is and using circles on his limbs to pop out his muscles more.
Lastly I decided for my fifth character I'd go with something I'm comfortable with and just add a little extra spin onto it: an astronaut bat! Not much to talk about for this one, I think the sketch looks really appealing and I think this character can have a lot of backstory with it.
I've also gone ahead and designed a couple poses for the robot character just to imagine how it would act like in animation. Although they are very rough and unpolished, I still think the idea is there and it definitely has some potential:
